Personalized IELTS Writing Practice

Practice that follows your band scores: short drills for TR, CC, LR, or GRA—not another full essay every time. Practices 1–2 free. Start Personalized Practice · Free IELTS essay checker

Short answer

Short answer: EssayGradeWise is not another IELTS writing mock test. After you check your Task 2 band, you train the weak criterion with short drills (Task Response, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy) inside a 20-practice personalized plan. Practices 1–2 are free. Unlimited score-only checks on our essay checker stay free with no login.

Not another mock test

Most “IELTS writing practice” pages only ask you to write another essay and get another score. That helps you measure — it rarely tells you what to practise next.

How the plan works

  1. Check a Task 2 essay (optional but recommended) with the free essay checker — overall band plus TR, CC, LR, GRA.
  2. Start Personalized Practice — Practices focus on the criteria you need most.
  3. Complete short drills — logic chains, cohesion work, sentence rewrites, and similar micro-tasks (each with a model answer).
  4. Get a progress report every two practices — what improved, what to strengthen, what the next batch emphasises.
  5. Move toward fuller essay work later in the plan once the weak spots are clearer.

Questions adapt to your level: accuracy and weak dimensions from each two-practice report shape what you see next.

What you practise

Each micro-drill targets a specific band-descriptor weakness. Labels like “improve Task Response” can feel abstract — we break them into smaller steps you can repeat.

Drill focusTrainsExample of what you do
Logic / argument chainsTR & CCBuild step-by-step chains for your position before full paragraphs
Cohesion / organisationCCPractise clearer paragraph flow and natural linking
Sentence rewriteGRA & LRTurn a weak sentence into a more precise, varied form
Lexical precisionLRReplace vague wording with clearer Task 2 vocabulary choices

Every item includes a model answer so you can see what “good” looks like for that skill.

Progress report every two practices

After Practices 1–2, 3–4, and so on, you receive an AI summary: overall accuracy, dimensions to strengthen, and batch-over-batch improvements — so you know what to fix before the next full essay.

Example (illustrative): You finished Practices 1–2. Your position is clear in logic-chain items, but some chains skip supporting detail — work on TR development. Vocabulary choices need more precision. The next batch will include more items at your level on these weak spots.

Later batch (illustrative): Practices 3–4 show progress on sentence rewrites and cohesion. The plan adapted with more GRA/CC drills at your level.

How this pairs with the free essay checker

  1. Paste a Task 2 essay → see which criterion is weakest.
  2. Open Personalized Practice → train that criterion with drills.
  3. Write another essay later → check again and compare.

Scores alone don’t raise your band. Targeted practice after the score does.

FAQ

Is this free?

Practices 1–2 are free. Score-only checks on the essay checker are unlimited and need no login. The full 20-practice plan is included with the paid plan (see pricing above).

Is this the same as an IELTS writing mock test?

No. A mock test asks for another full essay and another score. This plan uses short criterion drills first, adapts to your weak spots, and sequences practice across 20 practices.

Do I need the essay checker first?

No, but it helps. The checker shows TR / CC / LR / GRA gaps; the plan is built to train those gaps.

What are Practices?

Each Practice is a guided set of Task 2 skill work in personalized practice — not “Day 1 / Day 2” of a calendar. Free users can try Practices 1–2.

Do you offer Task 1?

No. EssayGradeWise focuses on Writing Task 2 only.

Are scores and reports official IELTS results?

No. Bands and progress reports are AI estimates for practice, aligned with the four official writing criteria — not exam-day scores.

How is this different from Grammarly or ChatGPT?

Those tools polish language or rewrite text. We organise practice around IELTS Writing criteria and a personalized sequence aimed at your weakest dimension. The plan adapts after each progress report.
